Understanding the Ratio Test
Well, while we may never don a cape or swing from a web, we can wield some pretty super math skills.
The Ratio Test is probably the most important of our nine series tests – it’s the superpower for infinite series!
Why?
Because when all else fails, the Ratio Test is ready to help as it is uniquely equipped to tackle those tricky problems.
In fact, it’s the only series test that can deal with factorials, and functions that mimic multiple tests in one.
Furthermore, the Ratio Test is used almost exclusively for finding the Radius and Interval of Convergence for Power Series and estimating error, as Paul’s Online Notes states.
Together we will look at four examples in detail so that you will feel comfortable and confident using your new superpower – the Ratio Test!
